In our second team preview of the NL East, I will be previewing the Miami Marlins, formerly known as the Florida Marlins.
The Miami Marlins come into this season with a new name, new players, and a new stadium. The Marlins play at their new stadium called Marlins Park. This park has a retractable roof and a natural grass playing field. The Marlins over this past off season made big splashes by signing former Mets SS Jose Reyes, former Padres closer Heath Bell, and former White Sox starting pitcher Mark Buehrle. The Marlins starting rotation for this season goes as follows: Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, Ricky Nolasco, Carlos Zambrano, and Anibal Sanchez.
My standout player that could make the biggest impact for this team is RF Giancarlo Stanton, formerly known as Mike Stanton. I think Stanton will bat .260 with 25 home runs and 95 RBI. My prediction for the Marlins is that they will have about 80 wins and finish second or third in the NL East.
