Last night at Citizens Bank Park, The Phillies got another great pitching performance from Joe Blanton. Blanton, who is 4-3 on the season, pitched seven innings, gave up six hits, struck out seven, and gave up one earned run. Carlos Ruiz was 2 for 3 last night with one RBI and Freddy Galvis had a huge game with two RBI and going 3 for 4. Finally, Third baseman Placido Polanco had got his 2,000th career hit in the 8th inning on a two run home run off of Houston Astros pitcher David Carpenter. The Phillies defeated the Astros last night 5-1.
The Phillies will be looking to put a three game winning streak together as they take on the Astros this afternoon at 1:05 pm. This is the last game of this quick two game set. On the mound for the Phillies it will be Cliff Lee (0-1) and on the mound for the Astros it will be Jordan Lyles (0-0).
