The Philadelphia 76ers announced earlier on July 31, 2012, the signing of rookie free agent guard and local basketball product Maalik Wayns.
Sources say; the deal is for one-year around $500,000.
After going undrafted during this year’s NBA Draft, Wayns’ accepted his invitation to play point guard for the Orlando Magic in the 2012 Orlando Pro Summer League, and showed his Philly toughness in front of numerous NBA scouts.
The former Villanova Wildcat played and started in three games for the Magic, averaging 11.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.33 steals in a little less than 27 minutes a game.
Wayns now has an opportunity this upcoming season to show why the other 29 NBA teams will regret passing on him.
Wayns was a four-year star player for Roman Catholic High School (2005-09), and was a McDonald’s All-American.
