On the night of the Miami Heat’s championship ring ceremony, the team’s new addition, Ray Allen posted 19 points (2 of 3 from three) in a 120-107 win over his former team, the Boston Celtics.
The Heat led the Celtics by 17 after three quarters, but the “green gang” started a 14-3 run that brought them within eight points with less than nine minutes to go in the final quarter.
The Celtics got as close as four points (111-107) before Chris Bosh and the Heat sealed the deal with a 9-0 run to end the game.
Dwayne Wade led all scorers with 29 points, while LeBron James (26 points and 10 rebounds) and Bosh (19 points and 10 rebounds) each posted double-doubles.
Paul Pierce led all Celtic scorers with 23 points, and Rajon Rondo added 20 points and 13 assists.
Kevin Garnett only had 9 points, but grabbed 12 boards.
The Celtics next game will be their home-opener against the Milwaukee Bucks, while the Heat visit Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks; both games are on Friday Nov. 2.
