In what many people saw as Andy Reid’s last and final home game, the Eagles lose on the final play of the game to the Redskins 27-20. Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was coming into today’s game off of an injury to his knee. Griffin III was playing with a knee brace in today’s game and played in the pocket for the most part and did damage to the Eagles defense.
Griffin III was 16/24 with 198 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His other rookie teammate running back Alfred Morris was definitely bringing the power rushing attack to the Skins’ offense. He had 22 carries for 91 rushing yards and one touchdown.
For the Eagles they started out well to begin the game. Rookie quarterback Nick Foles would find wide receiver Jeremy Maclin for a 27 yard touchdown pass. That would be the only passing touchdown of the game for the Eagles. Nick Foles had his own share of problems today as he had an interception and a fumble. He would finish the game with 345 passing yards.
Today’s game was also the return of Lesean McCoy as he was coming back off of a concussion that he suffered the last time the Eagles played the Redskins. McCoy in the rushing department had 45 yards on 13 carries. Then in the receiving department, he had 77 yards on nine receptions.
Finally, Jeremy Maclin had another career day as he had eight receptions for 116 yards.
The Eagles are now 4-11 on the season and got their first interception in many weeks from safety Colt Anderson who is replacing Nate Allen.
Next Sunday, the Eagles will finish the season at MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants, who are fighting for their playoff lives. Game time is set for 1:00 pm on FOX.
