It’s the ultimate battle of two rookie quarterbacks who are both in the conversation for offensive rookie of the year: RGIII vs. Russell Wilson. The Washington Redskins high-powered offense is set to take on the devastating defense of the Seattle Seahawks in what will be a true NFC Wildcard battle.

The Washington Redskins come into this game with a 10-6 record which includes a seven game winning streak to close out the season. Much of that success is due to the play of rookie quarterback, Robert Griffin III who finished his first go-round in the NFL completing 258 of 393 passes for a total of 3,200 yards and 20 touchdowns. The Heisman Trophy quarterback also showed of his legs rushing for 815 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Even Griffin’s teammates who have been on the team for many years before praise Griffin for his efforts to turn the team around. Veteran linebacker, London Fletcher, cited RGIII’s impressive season as the main driving force for resurrecting the team that for a long time was regarded as the worst team in the NFC East. That same team is now the NFC East Champions of 2012.

RGIII was not the only rookie on the Redskins to have an impressive year. Rookie running back, Alfred Morris, made a huge impact on the Skins running game. The rookie out of Florida Atlantic recorded over 1,600 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

While the Redskins have an offense that can pose a huge threat, the Seahawks have just as many weapons on their side of the ball. The Redskins are in for a tough test as the Seahawks defense has only allowed just over 15 points per game this season (fewest in the NFL). The Seahawks defense played a major role in the teams monstrous three week stint during the season where Seattle put up nearly 150 points in that short amount of time.

The Seahawks offense is lead by Russell Wilson who stands as a huge threat to the Redskins defense. Russell’s passing stats nearly mirror those of RGIII as he completed 252 of 393 passes for a total of 3,118 yards and 26 touchdowns.

The Seahawks also have the offensive threat of “Beast Mode” Marshawn Lynch who is known for powering through defensive lines for major gains. In 2012, Lynch rushed for over 1,600 yards and pounded in 11 touchdowns. Look for the Seahawks to look to both their offensive and defensive weapons to try to stop RGIII and the red hot Redskins.

Fed-Ex field will be the battleground for this highly anticipated NFC match-up. The Seahawks and Redskins will meet this Sunday at 4:30 pm live on FOX.
