Earlier this morning, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year contract that is said to be worth over $10M. This comes less than a week after the Eagles announced that they would not release Vick before the Feb. 6 deadline that would have guaranteed him $3M for this coming season. Vick’s new contract will set up what will be an interesting competition for next season’s starting spot.

Last season, Michael Vick experienced one of his worse outings of his career dropping to a quarterback rating of 46.0 and struggling with former head coach Andy Reid’s West Coast offensive style of play. With the signing of former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly, Vick appears optimistic and ready to adapt to Kelly’s high-flying offense.

Vick is coming up on his fourth season with the Eagles who signed him in 2009 after he missed two years resulting from dog fighting charges. Perhaps his most memorable game was the Dec. 19 matchup between the Eagles and Giants in the 2010 season when he led the Eagles to a unforgettable forth quarter win that was capped off by a Desean Jackson punt return.

The veteran quarterback was set to make $16M this coming season as part of the contract extension he signed at the beginning of last season. With a new coach, free agency, the draft, and a quarterback competition to come, this is only the beginning of the total transformation of the Philadelphia Eagles.
