It was announced today, that former Sixers guard Lou Williams is out for the rest of the season with a torn right ACL. Williams tore his ACL in Friday night’s game versus the Brooklyn Nets. This is a big loss for the Hawks as Lou Williams was their third leading scorer averaging 14.4 points per game.
Head coach Larry Drew said “It’s certainly devastating to us to lose Lou.” This does not help the Hawks in no way as they have loss seven of nine games after starting out well this season. Lou Williams brought a spark to his hometown team just like he did with the Philadelphia 76ers for many seasons.
The test now for the Hawks is to see if they can rebound from this devastating injury. Before the Hawks took on the Spurs tonight, San Antonio’s head coach Gregg Popovich said that Lou Williams is “a hell of a force.”
It will be different to see Lou Williams not playing for the rest of the season. Williams was becoming one of the best sixth men in the NBA with the likes of James Harden when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Tonight, the Atlanta Hawks loss to the San Antonio Spurs 98-93 in their first game without Williams.
