With the luxury that the Phillies have with their three ace pitchers of Cole Hamels, Cliff Lee, and Roy Halladay, they can pick who they want to start on Opening Day. Many people think that Roy Halladay won’t be the Opening Day starter but you will see the combination of him, Hamels, and Lee in the first series of the season against the Atlanta Braves.
One thing that the Phillies would like to is split up their two southpaws in Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee. As of right now, one of these two pitchers will start the first game of the season. As we know Halladay is getting older so having him as your second pitcher in the rotation is not such a bad idea.
Last season, Halladay had a 4.49 era, 11-8 record, and 132 strikeouts. Remember he also was injured for most part of the season which showed in his stats. Halladay didn’t have any complete games or shutouts. Usually as most Phillies fans know we can always count on him to have either one complete game or shutout. Expect Roy Halladay to have a better season and if he can get you 15-20 wins then the Phillies should be in playoff contention.
