The backup point guard position has finally been resolved as of right now for the Philadelphia 76ers. Today, the team decided to sign Jeremy Pargo for the rest of the season. Pargo joined the Sixers on February 7th and signed a 10 day contract.
In his first game with the Sixers on February 9th, Pargo scored 12 points and dished out six assists versus the Charlotte Bobcats. The Sixers would go on to win that game. It’s amazing to see that Pargo has won the backup point guard job because so many other players couldn’t. Maalik Wayns who basically had the inside track to the backup point guard job lost it and isn’t with the team anymore. Shelvin Mack was a stop gap and didn’t last long with the Sixers. Finally, Royal Ivey isn’t what you are looking for as a competent backup point guard.
Let’s see what Pargo can bring to the Sixers for the rest of the season as they are looking to make a playoff push in the second half.
