Remember how happy we all were when the Flyers finally won a road game the other day? Yeah, that’s worn off.
The Flyers have fallen 5-3 away to the New Jersey Devils, and then 4-1 to the Montreal Canadiens.

Versus the Devils, the first period started out pretty badly, as Travis Zajac scored 40 seconds into the game for the Devils. The Flyers responded incredibly, however, and by the end of the first period it was 3-1. But it all went downhill from there, as the Devils would score yet again in the early stages of the period, this time 26 seconds in, in the form of newly re-acquired Alexei Ponikarovsky. At the end of 40 minutes, it was tied at 3. But the Flyers couldn’t scrape together any goals during the third, and the Devils defeated them by a score of 5-3.

The Flyers were hoping to bounce back with a win away to Montreal, but it just wouldn’t happen. The Canadiens simply outclassed the Flyers, putting 3 goals past backup goalie Brian Boucher, who was playing behind a simply awful defense (Kimmo Timonen) was clearly injured, but played anyway). Perhaps the most telling statistic is that the Flyers only had 19 shots on goal. When you’re playing against a backup goalie in Peter Budaj, you have to take advantage and putting 19 shots on goal is not taking advantage at all. All in all, a really poor showing from the Flyers this weekend.
