Phillies Lose in the Ninth

coyotes draft party-10

Today was a great Saturday night to watch baseball.  The Phillies and the Marlins were keeping up with each other throughout the game; stopping the other team from scoring.  The Marlins starting pitcher was Jose Fernandez, a 20 year old from Cuba who had the Eye of the Tiger in this game.  In the bottom of the fifth, the Marlins scored thanks to Jose Fernandez single which allowed third baseman Adeiny Hechavarria to score.  Prior to that, Hechavarria had tripled on a line drive.

Skip now to the top of the seventh.  Phillies’ right fielder Dominic Brown is able to single on a ground ball.  With the help of a Freddy Galvis’ walk, Brown is able to move to second.  Then, Phillies’ catcher Erik Kratz grounds the ball, which forces an out.  Thanks to this out, Brown is able to score, equalizing the score 1-1, but Kratz moves on to second due to an error from second baseman Donovan Solano.  Sadly, the scoring ends here for the Phillies.  The bottom of the ninth rolls around, Placido Polanco is up to bat and is walked.  Greg Dobbs singles against Phillies’ pitcher Phillippe Aumont, and Polanco capitalizes by reaching third base.  Chris Coghlan puts the final nail in the coffin by hitting an infield single to Chase Utley, who can’t get a grip on the ball.  Polanco slides into home to end the game, and the Phillies lose 2-1.

The winning pitcher is Marlins’ Steve Cishek, and Aumont is the losing pitcher of this game.  The next game is against the Marlins once again at 1:10 pm on April 14th.
