Time To Jump The Phillies Ship?

Alec_Ogletree

The Philadelphia Phillies have lost 6 games in a row. They have looked absolutely terrible, and have been a disgrace. Just when you thought that the team had improved, and won 5 straight, they turn around and put a bad strength of baseball together. It was extremely important for the Phil’s to play good after the break, and they simply have not shown up. Personally, I believe it is time to jump ship on this team.

Inconsistent Hitting

The inconsistent hitting on this team is the number one reason as to why they are in the position that they are in. The team has struggled mightily over this poor stretch. Besides Chase Utley, Michael Young, and Dom Brown, this lineup has been one of the worse in the league. This team can not hit with RISP, and really struggles when they need to be clutch. There are so many different flaws to pick out with this lineup, and it is the exact reason that the team has played so careless.

Cole Hamels

Cole Hamels is 4-13 wih a 4.09 ERA. Yes, these are the stats of Cole Hamels. This season comes a shock to the city of Philadelphia as Hamels had his best season just a year before. He has shown no signs of turning his season around, and has really disappointed fans. It really is a shame for Hamels, and he can’t seem to figure out what the problem has been all year. Hopefully, this year was a fluke, but this is defiantly a lost season for Cole.

Bullpen

The Phillies bullpen has obviously contributed to how bad they have been this year. They have cost the team over a dozen games, and there is truly no one to trust. There is no one to trust, including closer Jonathan Papelbon. He has helped fill the void of inconsistency, by blowing 5 saves on the year. The Phil’s lack a set-up man, and basically an entire bullpen. The bullpen is in need of a complete makeover this upcoming offseason as they have been one of the worst in the league this season.

It is really hard to show any faith in this Phillies team. It seems impossible for them to make the playoffs this year, and even if they did could you really see them making a world series run? Absolutely not. There are just way to many inconsistencies on this Phillies ball club for them to make any kind of “magical” run. They are disgusting fans on a nightly basis, and are an embarrassment to the city. Right now it looks like the Phillies could be selling, and that is without a doubt the best move Ruben Amaro Jr. can make.
