At AAC media day, Temple picked to finish second to last in conference

The title basically explains it all, today was the new American Athletic Conference media day and their first preseason poll was released. In that preseason poll, with a new head coach in Matt Rhule, the Owls were picked to finish in 9th place in the new conference. Memphis was picked to finish in last place.

Not a lot of people are expecting big things this season from the Owls as they finished last season 4-7, have a new head coach as I mentioned before, and have uncertainty at the quarterback position. At today’s media day, Rhule said “I want to make sure I say this, and say it with pride: We’re really excited about the future of Temple football in the American Athletic Conference.”

Rhule should be excited as this new conference has exciting teams in it such as Louisville, who has been picked to win the conference and has a Heisman candidate hopeful in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Also can’t forget to mention the conference has Cincinnati, Rutgers, UCF, USF, Houston, UConn, and SMU in it. UCF, SMU, and Houston are all high powered offenses that can put up a lot of points.

This season is a transition year for Temple but if they can make it through the AAC then they just might see themselves in a bowl game this winter.
