This game was one of the worst games I have ever witnessed. It was absolutely terrible. The Phillies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 5th inning, when Cole Hamels blooped a single to left. Cole Hamels was great in this game, he went 8 innings, he recorded 5 strikeouts and did not give up any runs. He even had an RBI! He was everything the Phillies needed him to be today, and some.

The 1-0 score held until the top of the ninth inning. The top of the 9th started with a Hunter Pence infield single. That was followed by a Brett Pill single. It was 1st and 2nd with nobody out, and then Roger Kieschnick laced a single to right field, and the Giants tied the game up. Then, there was a single from Joaquin Arias that gave the Giants the lead. After the Phillies escaped that inning, it was the bottom of the ninth.

The bottom of the 9th started with Delmon Young reaching on an error by Joaquin Arias. That was followed by Cody Asche’s first major league hit! After Asche’s first hit, John Mayberry Jr. was hit by a pitch! The Phillies had the bases loaded with no outs, and then came Laynce Nix. He flied out to right, not deep enough to get the run home. Then Carlos Ruiz flied out to left, and that was not deep enough to get the run home. The Phillies had Erik Kratz up, with 2 outs and the bases loaded. He hit a hard ground ball to third that was fielded, and the game was over. The Giants won the series.

Tomorrow, the Phillies look to rebound against the Braves.
