The score basically tells it all! The Philadelphia Eagles loss today, in Mile High 52-20 as the Denver Broncos move onto 4-0 on the season. The game was over when the third quarter began. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning threw for 327 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Throughout the entire game, Manning would only have six incompletions throughout the game. Manning’s receivers helped him out throughout the game. Eric Decker had five receptions for 88 yards, and then Demaryius Thomas had nine receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

Finally, Wes Welker who dominated the slot all game had seven receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Basically, the Eagles secondary was horrible and it was rookie safety Earl Wolff’s first start. The Eagles offense was average today to say the least. Quarterback Michael Vick had 248 passing yards but no interceptions which is a silver lining from this game.

The Broncos held Lesean McCoy and Desean Jackson in check all game. Running back Chris Polk would get his first rushing touchdown in today’s game and wide receiver Jeff Maehl would catch his first touchdown as a Philadelphia Eagle as Nick Foles came in during garbage time and led a scoring drive.

The Eagles are now 1-3 on the season and all is not lost as they only sit in second place in the NFC East as the Dallas Cowboys lost today to the San Diego Chargers 30-21. Next week, the Eagles take on the 0-4 New York Giants at MetLife Stadium as the Giants will be looking for their first win of the season.

Lastly, here is a quote from Curt Jenkins, fellow staff writer here at TSL and die hard Eagles:

For those who disagree that Chip Kelly is ill-prepared for the NFL you honestly have no knowledge of football. This offense is not the problem. Everything the offense does is marred by horrid defensive play calling. We cannot win playing zone coverage on third down, or allowing teams to beat us with slot screens. Lastly you don’t win in this league when your defense can’t tackle the ball carrier.”
Truly something to think about….
