A quarter of the NFL season is already history and its still shrouded on who is a pretender and who is a contender. There are three games I will be watching this Sunday and hopefully they live up to the hype. Two of the games are focused on the NFC East and the last one puts two of the best young quarterbacks up against one another.
First off, Eagles vs. Giants is going to be a hard fought NFC East showdown. These teams always put it all on the line when they play. With the Giants coming off an embarrassing lost to the Kansas City Chiefs where they lost by 21 plus, big blue will be looking to heal those wounds and who better to do it to than a rival within the division. The Eagles all season have had extreme trouble defending slot receivers, and it wont get any easier Sunday. Victor Cruz is looking to have his name added to the list of slot receivers who have decimated the Eagles secondary.
The Eagles will roll in to New York looking to ice their wounds of last week as well. Eli’s older brother Peyton showed the Eagles and Chip Kelly they have a lot to learn. The Eagles lost in Denver 52-20 and are looking for their first win since a week one victory over the Washington Redskins. Michael Vick seems to have good performances in New York and I expect a great performance today. After all its not so much the offenses fault the team is sitting at 1-3 as Vick and company have played pretty solid and have one of the highest scoring avg. in the league. When you looked confused on defense or are asking Brandon Boykin to come up and play outside linebacker you have some serious issues that need to be addressed.
Since the Giants are still winless and seem to have no idea how to score the football, it will be a close match up,but the Eagles should win. 28-24
Next game on the NFC East menu features the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos meeting up in a great NFC/AFC match -up. Denver will be on the road for this one and honestly could really see the Cowboys pulling the upset. As any player is aware , AT&T Stadium is no easy place to play. This is the only way possible Peyton Manning will be defeated. Cowboys have a pretty solid defense and Miles Austin and Dez Bryant will be a handful to keep up with. If the Cowboys can mange a strong running attack than I like their chances.
Denver on the other hand, well they are playing like a team on a mission to wipe out anything in its path. Peyton Manning has thrown 16 touchdowns and not one sniff of an interception. He is the true leader and focal point of not just the Denver offense but the Broncos team as a whole. Can they play as smoothly on the road as a they do at home is the question. Can the defense continue to be the top ranked rushing defense and play up to that high tempo style we are used to seeing. Every week so far there is a team that leaves us saying wow they won. This week I think it will be the Cowboys and they knock off the Denver Broncos in OT 30-27
Lastly, a game that will be quite interesting is the cross conference match-up of the Seattle Seahwaks and Indianapolis Colts. This game puts two of the best young quarterbacks up against one another. Russel Wilson vs. Andrew Luck has the feel of a heavyweight fight. Two teams have really made a name for themselves in their respective divisions will be playing in a possible, future Superbowl match-up. Looking at the overall standards of the teams, the Seahawks are more complete on both sides of the ball and are favored to win the game. However with that being said, as we learned from last season, you cannot doubt the comeback capability of Luck. He is currently the leader in fourth quarter come backs dating back to last season. That being said the Seahawks will have ot be running on all cylinders for the entirety of the game. They simply cant rule out the possibility that the Colts can relinquish a lead in a matter of minutes, plays or even seconds for that matter. It will be a tough , great football game. Seahawks get the win on a late turnover 24-20
