Last year, the Miami Heat finished with a record of 66-16. They were also NBA champions for the second straight year, which is obviously an amazing thing to do. They did make a few moves over the offseason to improve their bench, but they didn’t make any huge moves. Their team is relatively similar to their team last year, and I am expecting another great season from them this year.
Heat 2013-14 MVP Prediction: LeBron James: Last year, LeBron James averaged 26.8 points, 7.3 assists, and 8 rebounds per game. That was an amazing season for him. He is only 28 years old, so he is still in his prime. His ability to score, pass, and rebound is simply amazing. I think he is the best player in NBA history. Yeah, I said it. To get back on subject, LeBron carried this Heat team to a National Basketball Association title last year. He is truly an amazing player, and I expect to see that out of him this year.
3 Players That Heat Fans Need To Look Out For This Season:
- Dwayne Wade: Dwayne Wade averaged 21.2 points, 5.1 assists, and 5 rebounds per game last year. That is great, but he has done better in his career. His numbers have gone down in a somewhat steady rate since his prime, and that worries me. That is an obvious sign of a player declining. This should worry Heat fans, because the Heat need Wade; LeBron can’t win a championship all by himself, you know.
- Greg Oden: Yes, Greg Oden is back, and he is a member of the Miami Heat now. He was drafted first overall in the 2007 NBA Draft. Another player drafted in that draft was Kevin Durant, and Oden was picked before him. This shows you how much potential Oden had, and I guess you can say th1at he still has that potential. Oden averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in his two season in the NBA (’08-’09, ’09 ’10). He was a pretty good player, and those were his first two NBA seasons, so obviously he was still getting better. I am really excited to see Oden play again this year, because I really want to see what he’s got. I would love to see him do well.
- Ray Allen: Ray Allen averaged 10.9 points, 1.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game for the Miami Heat last year. He did all of this off of the bench too, so he was definitely effective last year. He made some very clutch shots for Miami in the postseason last year, and without Allen, I’m fully convinced that the Heat wouldn’t have won the NBA title last year. He is a very important player to Miami, and he is 38. I think that if he started to decline at a rapid rate, then Miami will lose a few games because of it. He is such a great bench player, and without him then the Miami bench will be missing something big.
2013-14 Heat Season Prediction: 66-16: You might have noticed this already, but 66-16 was Miami’s record last year. The reason that I predicted them to have the same record this year, is that not much has changed. They still have virtually the same team, and they are still not too old. The only moves they made in the offseason were to improve their bench, and I don’t think that that is going to help them too much. I really think that the Miami Heat will win the NBA title this year. This would be the third season in a row that they will have won the NBA title, if they pull it off. I guess you could call it a three-peat.
