The 2013 NFL regular season is already a quarter over and many questions have surfaced this season. A few of these questions will be addressed in this article and I will give my opinion on these issues, as well.
What is wrong with the Houston Texans? The Texans have been solid the past few seasons, but this year there is something wrong. Quarterback Matt Schaub is having a dreadful year and running back Arian Foster does not seem like the elite running back that he is. The defense, which was very good last season, is almost nonexistent this season. It is easy to see that the fans do not like what they see, as they went as far as cheering when Schaub left the game with an injury in this past Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams, which Houston lost in blowout fashion. The Indianapolis Colts seem to be running away with this division. If the Texans want to have any chance at staying alive in the playoff race, they better wake up and play like they know how to.
Will the Eagles beat the Cowboys? One of the biggest games this Sunday is that of the Cowboys and Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Both teams are 3-3 and are vying for the top spot in the NFC East. This is one of the best rivalries in football and this Sunday’s matchup is hard to call. Eagles will start Nick Foles again at quarterback, as Michael Vick deals with his hamstring injury. Foles has looked good of late and if he keeps playing that way, it may be Vick outside looking in. The Cowboys and Eagles always play competitive, close-scoring games and this Sunday should be no different.
How will Peyton Manning do in his return to Indianapolis? Sunday night’s game will feature the 6-0 Denver Broncos facing the 4-2 Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. This will be Manning’s first time playing in this stadium since the 2010 season, his last full season with the Colts (Manning missed all of 2011 with a neck injury). On the other side for the Colts is the sophomore-stud quarterback Andrew Luck, who is having an impressive year. This game should be very entertaining, as both teams have very high-powered offenses.
How will Aaron Rodgers game be affected without Randall Cobb and possibly James Jones? The Green Bay Packers took a big blow this week when it was reported that their star-receiver Randall Cobb Is going to miss 6-8 weeks with a broken fibula. Cobb has been great all year as Rodgers’ favorite receiver. Fellow wideout James Jones is dealing with a knee injury and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. If Jones is unable to play, Rodgers will not have many respectable players to throw to, besides receiver Jordy Nelson and possibly tight end Jermichael Finley. Rodgers and the Packers may have a tough day if this does happen.
Will the New York Giants finally win a game? What an awful start to the season it has been for the Giants. Currently at 0-6, the team has looked worse than the 0-6 Jacksonville Jaguars, who most fans actually believed would be winless by this point in the season. The Giants have a good opportunity to get their first win on Monday night, when they take on the 1-4 Minnesota Vikings in the Meadowlands. Quarterback Eli Manning is having a horrible year and this could be a good bounce-back game for him. But, newly-signed Josh Freeman will be starting for the Vikings in this game, so this game is not going to be a cakewalk for the G-Men. I would not be surprised if the Vikings do win this game and push the Giants record to 0-7, though.
