This morning, the Philadelphia Phillies outright four players down to Triple A Lehigh Valley. Those players are outfielder Casper Wells, pitcher J.C. Ramirez, pitcher Cesar Jimenez, and outfielder Roger Bernadina.
Each one of these players had some kind of impact with the Phillies this season. We all remember Casper Wells, who pitched in the Phillies 18 inning game against the Arizona Diamondbacks but other than that he really made no impact on the roster. He finished with a .126 batting average.
Next, J.C. Ramirez finally came up to the show but did not perform well as he came over in the Cliff Lee trade a few years ago. This season, he posted a 7.50 ERA. Cesar Jimenez, the big left hand pitcher actually was a force in the bullpen, as he posted a 3.71 ERA but had 11 strikeouts and 10 walks.
Finally, Roger Bernadina actually had a positive effect on the lineup as he brought speed to the base paths but he definitely has a chance to be on the Phillies roster in spring training. Bernadina is the perfect platoon player in the outfield that the Phillies could use and wouldn’t cost them a lot.
This season, he made $1.2 million as he began the season with the Washington Nationals.
