Khalid Lewis, the transfer from the University of Delaware last year, could possibly miss the season opener on November 9th. The redshirt sophomore has a broken bone in his hand.
According to City of Basketball Love, La Salle head coach Dr. John Giannini said “We’re going to get it X-rayed on November 5. If it’s healed then he comes back to practice; if not, it’s a week-to-week thing.”
Hopefully, this is not a long term nagging injury because Lewis has the potential to flourish in this offense. Giannini’s offense is based around guard play and Lewis would be a perfect backup to senior Tyreek Duren. The team also has a multitude of guards in Sam Mills, Taylor Dunn, Tyrone Garland, O.J. Lewis, Amar Stukes, D.J. Peterson, Jordan Price, and Cleon Roberts.
Price and Roberts will not play this year since they just transferred to the school over the summer and have to sit out one year due to NCAA rules.
In Lewis’ only season at Delaware, he only averaged 5.2 points, 2.6 assists in 29.6 minutes per game.
