Last night, the Philadelphia area was well represented in the 2013 NBA D-League Draft. One of those players was former La Salle Explorer guard Earl Pettis. Pettis had a very successful career at La Salle is a step closer to his dreams of playing in the NBA.
Yesterday, he was drafted in the fifth round by the Santa Cruz Warriors, who are the official D-League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors. Pettis will be joining a Santa Cruz team that has the likes of Seth Curry, Joe Alexander (a former first round pick), Taylor Griffin (brother of Blake Griffin), Travis Leslie (who played in the Orlando Pro Summer League with the Philadelphia Sixers), and Jeremy Tyler (who played with the New York Knicks in the Las Vegas Summer League).
Earl Pettis brings a lot to the table to the Warriors. First of all, he is a big guard that can make plays for his team which he did countless times at La Salle. In his last season at La Salle, Pettis averaged 15.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He got considerably better from the 2010-11 season in which he only scored 9.1 points per game.
Expect Pettis to be a leader on the floor, which will eventually earn him a spot on the Golden State Warriors roster.
