According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the San Fransisco 49ers have released CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

Asomugha joined the 49ers this season after two disappointing season with the Philadelphia Eagles. Since the Eagles released him at the end of last season, they still owe him $4 million, so don’t feel too bad for the veteran cornerback.
Fellow cornerback Eric Wright is expected to join the 49ers in Asomugha’s place. After being released today, Asomugha will now go on waivers.
