Penn State’s 23-20 loss to Nebraska on Saturday, didn’t hurt as much to Bill O’Brien and his staff on Sunday morning as it was announced that JUCO DT , Tarow Barney committed to Penn State after an official visit to State College.
Barney, a 6’3 285 pound defensive tackle who is currently enrolled at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia,Mississippi also had offers from Illinois, Iowa State, and Miami (OH). Barney’s commitment could spell danger for the Big Ten if Penn State is able to pick up another DT in five-star recruit Thomas Holley as they are favored to.
Currently, PSU only has only one other defensive line commitment and that is from Antonie White who is also a DT.
Barney’s commitment is the 16th for the 2014 Penn State class and is the first JUCO commitment for Penn State this recruiting season. Barney would be enrolling in January which increases the total number of commits in the class enrolling early to three which means that Penn State has the ability to receive seven more commits which would bring the total up to 23.
