I was pleased to hear that the Phillies tendered a contract to Kyle Kendrick. Kendrick is a good fourth or fifth started in this league, and he can also pitch out of the bullpen. He’s very flexible, and any team likes flexible pitchers. I was also very pleased to hear that the Phillies tendered a contract to Ben Revere, because Revere is a great leadoff hitter, and a good leadoff hitter is something that the Phillies have been lacking over the years. One more player that I was pleased to hear that the Phillies tendered a contract to is Antonio Bastardo. Bastardo is a solid setup man, and the Phillies definitely can’t afford to lose a good bullpen pitcher. He’s the Phillies’ best left handed bullpen pitcher, and the bullpen would be lost without him
I was not pleased to hear that the Phillies tendered a contract to John Mayberry Jr. I don’t understand why the Phillies would bring him and his -0.4 WAR back. He’s 29 years old an he hasn’t really done anything good in the big leagues yet, there isn’t any hope left for him, so I’m puzzled as to why the Phillies would want him back.
Overall, I’m pleased with the moves that the Phillies made today.
