Raptors Trade Rudy Gay To Kings

Sources are telling Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports that the Kings and Raptors have agreed on a trade that will send Rudy Gay to Sacramento. Here are the full details of the trade:

Raptors Receive:

• John Salmons
• Greivis Vasquez
• Patrick Patterson
• Chuck Hayes

Kings Receive:

• Rudy Gay
• Aaron Gray
• Quincy Acy

This is obviously a pretty large trade, and this benefits both teams. The main piece in this deal, Rudy Gay, is only 27 years old, and he’s putting up great numbers; he’s averaging 19.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game so far this season. That’s very good. I like his fit with the Kings. They already have two great, young players in Ben McLemore and DeMarcus Cousins, and I feel that Rudy Gay is going to compliment them nicely. The other two players that the Kings got in this deal are Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray; both of these players are not very good, and don’t have much potential, so I’m thinking that these two were only thrown into this deal for salary reasons.

The biggest piece that the Raptors got in this deal is Greivis Vasquez. Vasquez is averaging 9.8 points, 5.3 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game this season. It is likely that he will be the sixth man for the Raptors, because he’s a point guard, and the Raptors already have a good point guard in Kyle Lowry. I do like Vasquez as a sixth man though. He is great at distributing the ball and he also has the ability to score. The Raptors also got 24 year old power forward, Patrick Patterson in this deal. Patterson is averaging 6.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game this season, which is pretty good. He’s good at rebounding and he can also score a little bit. This trade also helps the Raptors for the future, as they are now worse than they were before, and now they should get a pretty good pick in the 2014 draft.

I like this deal for both teams. The Kings now have a nice set of young, solid players, and the Raptors are now set up to get a good pick in the 2014 draft. The Raptors really didn’t have any use for Rudy Gay, and they got a nice return for him.
