After week 15 of the NFL regular season, many new storylines have surfaced. With two more weeks left in the season, we will have to wait and see how these storylines play out. But, I have some predictions about what will happen during the last two weeks of the season.
The Philadelphia Eagles will win the NFC East. Sorry, Cowboys, your luck may have run out. With their devastating loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, the Cowboys look like they are performing their notorious blow-the-season routine again. The Eagles have a tough matchup Sunday night against the Chicago Bears, but whoever wins the last game of the season between the Eagles and Cowboys will most likely win the division. My bet is that the Eagles beat the Cowboys and earn a spot in the playoffs.
The Baltimore Ravens will win the AFC North. The Ravens are one of the hottest teams in the league right now, as they have won four straight games. Their win against the Detroit Lions on Monday night showed that they are back to their winning ways for sure (even if it took six field goals to do so). The Ravens have a tough final two games of the season, at home versus the New England Patriots and then on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals hold a one-game lead on the Ravens in the division, but they have not been playing very well and I think the Ravens will beat them when they face each other in week 17.
The Green Bay Packers will win the NFC North. After the Lions’ terrible loss on Monday night, it is safe to say that they are out of the picture. The Packers are only one game behind the Bears in the division and if quarterback Aaron Rodgers returns from injury to play the final two games of the season, watch out because he will be come out blazing. The Packers and Bears play each other in week 17. This game could possibly decide the division winner. If Rodgers is healthy and on his A-game, I fully expect the Packers to win and make the playoffs.
The Carolina Panthers will win the NFC South. The Panthers have had a magical season so far and this week they will try to make their season even better by beating the New Orleans Saints. Both teams are currently 10-4, with the Saints still in first because they own the tiebreaker. I expect the Panthers to beat the Saints on Sunday and beat the Atlanta Falcons in week 17. This will put them at 12-4 and would also give them a first-round bye in the playoffs. It’s hard to believe how much the Panthers have improved from the beginning of the season when they were 1-3. Now they are looking towards the possibilities of the playoffs, a division title and a first-round bye.
