On Monday we heard that Bill O’Brien had requested for Penn State to reduce his buyout for NFL teams. There were already some rumors going around saying that he wanted to leave Penn State and coach in the NFL, but nothing official. Him wanting his buyout reduced definitely did confirm that he’s interested in heading to the NFL. Today, a report came out, saying that O’Brien has agreed to interview with the Houston Texans. There are no details on when this interview will take place.

O’Brien took over at Penn State before the 2012 season, which was also before the NCAA announced the sanctions that Penn State would receive, following the Jerry Sandusky scandal. He spent the previous five seasons with the New England Patriots.
If O’Brien decides to leave Penn State, which seems likely at this point, he would come at a cost. He has a buyout of $6.5 million, but that’s not a big deal for most NFL teams.
