Tonight, just wasn’t the Philadelphia 76ers night as they get ran out of the gym 123-78 by the Los Angeles Clippers. This game was so bad in a historical perspective, but you got to give it to them they at least scored 78 points.
The Sixers shot 27 percent from the field and 10.7 percent from three point range. They were just horrible tonight and it got so bad that in the first quarter they were down 31-5. If you are Brett Brown what do you say to your young team after tonight? I honestly don’t know.
At least, the trade deadline isn’t far away. One positive from the game is at least the Sixers got to the line 25 times and made 84 percent of their free throws. That’s progress but they still can’t play a lick of defense and it shows. The starting lineup was horrible tonight. Spencer Hawes was held scoreless tonight while Michael Carter-Williams had eight turnovers.
MCW also had 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists. Evan Turner went full “Evan Turner” tonight scoring seven points and shooting 1 of 8 from the field. Thad Young, who has been a trooper this entire season, had a double-double tonight scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Tonight was also the debut of Arnett Moultrie after his quick stint with the Delaware 87ers. Moultrie probably wished he was still with the Sevens after tonight’s game. In 16 minutes, he had zero points but had a couple of rebounds and three steals.
Off the bench, Tony Wroten was the only player who shot the ball well tonight. Wroten shot 7 of 11 from the field to go along with 21 points.
For the Clippers, everybody on their roster played tonight including Antawn Jamison and Sasha Vujacic, two names we haven’t heard in years. Chris Paul in his return tonight did CP3 like things scoring seven points, dishing out eight assists and four steals. DeAndre Jordan had a great night grabbing 20 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Finally, Blake Griffin, who had highlight dunks tonight, scored 26 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.
The Sixers are now 15-37 on the season and now have the number two spot in the draft lottery. They now travel to Oakland to take on the Golden State Warriors tomorrow night as they try to rectify their performance tonight. Also don’t forget the game comes on at 10:30 pm ET.
