King James for MVP Vol.5?

Last Night, in American Airlines Arena, the self proclaimed “King” that is Lebron James had maybe the best game of his career statistically. Last night against the Charlotte Bobcats, Lebron James scored 61 points on just 22 of 33 shots, with 7 rebounds and 5 assist. Lebron James broke multiple records on Monday, March 3rd of 2014. The King was just absolutely on fire when it came to his jump shooting. James made 8 of the 10 threes he took and was unstoppable when he was trying to get to the rim. Not to mention Lebron was wearing a mask to protect his nose after breaking it against the Thunder two weeks ago. Normally the mask would disrupt a players shooting. Not the case for LeBron. This was arguably the most efficient individual player performance in this era.

Yes, Carmelo Anthony scored 62 points against the Bobcats with just one more shot taken and one more shot made; however, Carmelo Anthony had 13 rebounds and no assist. I think everyone agrees when I say that Carmelo does not make his players better. Everyone knows that Carmelo is a ticking time bomb waiting to shoot every time he touches the ball. I think it’s easy to say that Lebron had a better performance against the Bobcats than Anthony.

The second player is Kobe Bryant “The Black Mamba”, who is arguably one of the all time greats. On January 22nd of 2006, he scored an unheard of 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. This scoring output is only second to the legendary Wilt Chamberlain’s 100 point game. Kobe Bryant shot 28 for 46 with two assists and six rebounds. You can make the argument that Kobe’s game was better than Lebron’s, but Kobe had only made six more shots than Lebron and attempted 13 more than Lebron. Ultimately, Kobe shot 60% from the field and 53% from three. When you combine the fact that Lebron James shot 66% from the field and almost 80% from the three point line. Lebron James was definitely more efficient than Kobe even though he only scored 61 points.

The last player is Kevin Durant. He scored a solid 54 points on the Golden State Worriors. He shot 19 of 28 and 5 of 9 from 3-point land. Durant also had six assist to go along with his career high. Kevin Durant missed nine shots and four from three point territory. Lebron only missed two shots. In my opinion, I believe that Lebron James had the better game. Not to mention that Lebron and Durant are in a heated MVP race and this competition will be intriguing as we approach the last part of the NBA season. Lebron or Durant, if you ask me, I would take Lebron every time. With that being said, Lebron James had one of the best games of his career and one of the best individual games that we have seen in this era.
