This evening, the Philadelphia Phillies made a minor move by trading for Washington Nationals catcher Koyie Hill and sending a PTBNL or cash, this was confirmed by a source to CSNPhilly.com.

Do not expect Hill to be starting anytime time soon for the Phillies as they are set at catcher with Carlos Ruiz and Wil Nieves. Hill will most likely be an extra catcher in the Phillies’ farm system.

Hill is a 10-year veteran who has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, and Miami Marlins. Over his career, he has a .206 batting average, .266 on base percentage, and a .287 slugging percentage.

So far in spring training, Koyie Hill has played in 10 games and only has 13 at bats. But he does have three RBIs to go along with a .385 batting average.

Finally, do not expect Hill to take time from either Tommy Joseph or Cameron Rupp, as both are young tremendous catchers in the Phillies’ minor league system.
