The Big Three, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat all have the option to opt-out or stay within their contracts at the end of this season. However, neither one of these gentlemen have come to a final decision on whether they would go their separate ways or stay together. The opt-out date deadline will be June 30, 2014.
In 2010, the big three had a meeting to discuss their free-agency decisions. They could have another meeting this year to discuss their resignation from the Miami Heat organization in the year 2014, 2015, or 2016. It would be hard for Miami Heat fans to watch such a phenomenal trio part ways. Especially, after winning two championships twice back to back, with a possibility of a three-peat.
However, at the end of the day the NBA is still a business and money is the number one objection for these players. In 2010, James, Wade, and Bosh each took less money to sign with the Heat. With the look of how things are changing with the NBA rules, the Big Three may have to take another pay-cut if they choose to stay together. Lets face it, these guys, along with the team can go all the way each year. But, there comes a point in time where money becomes an issue along with the realization that they each should be getting paid more than what they already are. When this epiphany announces itself within the Big Three, that’s when unanimous decisions will be made.
Let’s not forget Lebron James birthday message to Dwyane Wade on January 17. It almost sounded like a farewell note to Wade and the Miami Heat organization as if Lebron was moving on to another team in the near future. “I came to Miami for 2 reasons. To play with U and to win championships and I can’t thank u enough for the sacrifice you’ve made since I arrived homie! No matter what happens in the future we stuck together like brothers for life.”
Will the Big Three decide to stay together or depart? We’ll all learn soon as time progresses.
