Five Current 76ers that should be on the roster next season

The Philadelphia 76ers recently finished a terrible season in which they went 19-63. We all know that they got tremendous performances from guys like Michael Carter-Williams and Thaddeus Young, but there were a few under the radar guys who played well too. While their team is not loaded with talent right now, there are quite a few guys that I would like to see return next season, because believe it or not, some of these guys can be decent bench players in the NBA. Here are five current players that Sam Hinkie and the Sixers should hold onto for next season (Not counting Michael Carter-Williams, Nerlens Noel, and Thaddeus Young, because they’re obvious):

1. Tony Wroten: Tony Wroten, or “Wrecking Ball Wroten,” had a pretty good season for the 76ers. He played well when he was coming off of the bench and when he was in the starting lineup. He averaged 13 points, three assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game; those are some solid numbers, especially considering the fact that he wasn’t in the starting lineup most of the time. He consistently showed the ability to score in the paint, and basically travel into the lane recklessly – hence the nickname “Wrecking Ball Wroten.” I’m fairly certain that he will be on the Sixers’ roster next season because he proved his ability to be a reliable player to have on the bench, and it would be silly to let him go.
2. James Anderson: James Anderson gave the 76ers a lot of quality minutes in his time with them. He averaged 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. He shot a decent .328 from three-point range, too. He showed his ability to shoot mid-range jump shots and even shoot behind the three-point line. Outside shooting is something that the Sixers are looking to improve on this offseason, so they certainly don’t want to let one of their best current outside scorers go, of course.
3. Hollis Thomson: Hollis Thomson only averaged six points and 3.2 rebounds per game for the Sixers, but if you look deeper into his stat-line, you will be impressed. He shot a stellar .401 from behind the three-point line, and .460 from the floor; those are some impressive percentages, especially for a shooting guard. He’s definitely someone I trust when it comes to shooting, and I’m sure many other 76ers fans agree.
4. Henry Sims: The 76ers acquired Henry Sims from the Cavaliers on the trade deadline. He was just kind of a throw-in in the deal, but he ended up playing really well for the Sixers. He averaged 11.8 points and seven rebounds for the Sixers. He also shot .489 from the field, which is tremendous. His play impressed me so much. Good big men are hard to come by these days, and it would be great if the Sixers could have a guy like Henry Sims coming off of the bench for them next season.
5. Jarvis Varnado: Jarvis Varnado only played 14.7 minutes per game with the 76ers, but he played rather well when he did play. He averaged 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He also shot a stellar .600 from the field, which is very good, and way above average. He’s a great, strong defensive presence to have in the paint. Having him on the bench would be good for the Sixers next season.
