The Oklahoma City Thunder, the second best team in the Western Conference will be looking to get back to the NBA Finals after getting bounced last year in the semifinals by the Memphis Grizzlies. They are up against a tall task as they go against the team that knocked them out last year. But this is a different Thunder and Grizzlies team.
The Thunder are rolling this season and Kevin Durant has been leading the charge for them as he has been on fire and will be the MVP. Durant, this season has had 46 30 point games that is just unheard of and when his teammate Russell Westbrook was sidelined with an injury he just stepped his game up.
For the Grizzlies, they had to fight all the way up to Game 81 by defeating the Phoenix Suns to get into the playoffs and somehow they find themselves as the seventh seed. The key for Grizzlies will be to get their big men involved in Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. These two big men demand attention as they can score and play solid defense. Expect them to go at it with Kendrick Perkins and Serge Ibaka.
Even though, the Grizzlies have the big men and Mike Conley, they don’t have Kevin Durant. Durant, more than any season is on a mission. He is tired of being second, he wants to be number one and it begins tonight. I expect him and the Thunder to have a big series. Don’t get me wrong he will have Tony Allen defending him but I expect him to have three 30 point games this series.
Prediction: Thunder in six
