Philadelphia 76ers believe Joel Embiid’s foot stress fracture is a one time thing

Last Thursday, many Philadelphia 76ers fans were in disbelief that the team went and selected Kansas center Joel Embiid. Many thought, that they would go with Dante Exum at that selection or trade up. Well, the Sixers went with Embiid and what came with him were his injury concerns.

Embiid, who had a back injury which derailed his chances of playing in the NCAA Tournament suffered a foot stress fracture during draft workouts which scared many teams away. Now, here at TSL we believe that this injury is not as serious as we have been saying this since the draft concluded last Thursday night.

It seems like the Sixers share the same sentiment. According to Tom Moore of Calkins Media, a NBA source said that the Sixers believe Embiid’s foot stress fracture is a one time thing and won’t happen again.

That still doesn’t mean Embiid will be playing anytime soon as Sam Hinkie said last week he expects Embiid to be out 5-8 months. With the Sixers in their current rebuilding stage it is okay for them to not rush back Embiid as this upcoming season we will get to see Nerlens Noel in action. If anything get ready to see the tag team combo of Joel and Noel in the 2015-16 season where this Sixers team could end up making some strides.
