Penn State to take on Drexel in off-campus series

Even though college football is right around the corner, there is still room to talk about college basketball as schedules are still being figured out. For the Penn State Nittany Lions men’s basketball team, they have figured out where one of their non-conference games will be held at this year.

According to Penn State, the Nittany Lions will take on Drexel this season in the beginning of an off-campus series. The first game will take place on December 20 at the new PPL Center in Allentown and then next season they will play at a neutral site here in Philadelphia.

This is big news for both schools as Penn State gets to test their metal against a City Six school and for Drexel this helps their non-conference schedule a lot as they will be playing an upcoming team in the Big Ten.

The last time these two teams met was back in 1992 and Penn State is leading the series 4-0 but don’t let those numbers sidetrack you. These are two young and fascinating teams. On one side, you have Drexel who is not scared to take on tougher competition but do not have the likes of Chris Fouch and Frantz Massenat. For the Dragons, expect Tavon Allen and Damion Lee to be keys in the offense this season.

Then, you have Penn State who does not have Tim Frazier on the team but they are going to be led by senior guard D.J. Newbill. For Penn State, they are no strangers to playing Philadelphia schools as last season they defeated La Salle at the Bryce Jordan Center.
