Philadelphia Phillies trade Roberto Hernandez to the Los Angeles Dodgers

Roberto Hernandez was one of the players that were placed on revocable waivers and he is one the first to be moved. According to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki, the Philadelphia Phillies have traded Hernandez to the Los Angeles Dodgers for two players to be named later.

This is a solid move for the Phillies as they needed to make a trade this month. This season with the Phillies, Hernandez had a 6-8 record with a 3.87 ERA. Hernandez has been pitching better of late as he won his last two starts against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Washington Nationals.

Hernandez was suppose to start tonight for the Phillies but that won’t happen as of right now, the starter for tonight’s game could be Cesar Jimenez or Sean O’Sullivan. Hernandez should help the Dodgers as a back end starter in their rotation as they already have a great 1-2-3 punch in Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, and Dan Haren.

Are there more moves to come regarding the Phillies? We will see, as earlier today, there was a report saying that the Chicago Cubs put a waiver claim on Cole Hamels.
