Report: Jeremy Maclin unlikely to play Friday versus New England Patriots

Yesterday, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin left practice early due to a tweaked left hamstring and was also seen icing down his right knee, the same knee that he tore his ACL in.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, he says that Maclin did not practice today and is unlikely to play tomorrow night against the New England Patriots.

Many Eagles fans were looking forward to Maclin playing tomorrow night and going up against Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis, who he was toasting in practice. With Maclin sitting out tomorrow night’s game does cause concern as quarterback Nick Foles and the first team offense did not look good last week.

Foles will most likely be without both Maclin and Riley Cooper for tomorrow night’s game, which means expect Jordan Matthews to get some playing time with the first team offense.

The key for the Eagles is the third preseason game which is the dress rehearsal game for the starters. If both Maclin and Cooper play in the third game against the Pittsburgh Steelers then there is nothing to worry about, but if they don’t the Eagles are in a world of trouble.
