Riley Cooper, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy all return to practice

In last week’s game versus the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles were without their top two wide receivers in Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper and then as we found out running back LeSean McCoy is dealing with turf toe.

Earlier today, according to John Gonzalez of CSNPhilly.com, Maclin, Cooper and McCoy all practiced today. This is obviously good news to hear as the Eagles will be taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night.

McCoy missed practice on Sunday but today did not talk to reporters on why he didn’t participate yesterday. Cooper has missed the first two preseason games due to an ankle injury and Maclin missed last week’s game against the Patriots because of a left hamstring injury.

With it looking like all three players might be playing on Thursday night, we might get the chance to see Maclin, Cooper and Jordan Matthews line up on the field together. Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur talked about the three wideouts playing together saying “Had [Cooper] or [Maclin] not been out, you certainly would have seen it by now.”

Shurmur continued with “They’ve had a lot of time together in the offseason, and I think we still have some time left before we play the Jaguars [in the season opener]. We’re hopeful that we’ll get them out there all together at some point.”

Seeing Maclin, Cooper and Matthews all lining up on the field Thursday night will bring a lot of joy to the Eagles coaching staff and fans. This will also help Nick Foles get into a rhythm because he hasn’t had his entire arsenal to his disposal in the preseason thus far. This Thursday’s game will be the last game for the starters as they will not play in the fourth and final preseason game against the New York Jets on August 28.
