Philadelphia Eagles release 14 players

Today, the Philadelphia Eagles release 14 players from the 90-man roster to bring it down to 76. Teams across the league need rosters to be down to 75 players by Tuesday afternoon.

Out of the 14 players that were released today was second-year linebacker Jake Knott. Knott appeared in 12 games for the Eagles last season but this season he will serve a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy.

Another interesting player that was released today by the Eagles was rookie Carey Spear. Spear did not appear in any preseason games and did not push Alex Henery in training camp. Taking Spear’s place in the competition will be Cody Parkey, who the Eagles traded for on Thursday.

Finally, the other 12 players that were released from the team were tight end Blake Annen, offensive lineman Michael Bamiro, offensive lineman Karim Barton, wide receiver Kadron Boone, wide receiver B.J. Cunningham, offensive lineman Donald Hawkins, tight end Emil Igwenagu, defensive end Joe Kruger, safety Daytawion Lowe, defensive end Frances Mays, safety Davon Morgan, and defensive end Alejandro Villanueva.

Even though these players were just released it is a possibility that they will be picked up by other teams, leagues or possibly selected to be on the Eagles practice squad. Remember practice squad rosters have been increased from 8 players to 10 so we could be seeing these players again.
