Week 1: Fantasy Football Sit/Start

pressrelease

Finally, the NFL season is here. We’ve waited long enough to have a full slate of Sunday games. The day is here! As a fantasy football player you probably have some game time decisions. I’m here to help you with that. Below are some Week 1: Fantasy Football Sit/Start decisions made for you so you can avoid sweating out last-minute decisions.

SIT

Mike Wallace, WR, MIA – This is an easy decision. Wallace and QB Ryan Tannehill had shoddy chemistry last year connecting on just a few deep balls. Any other week, I would start Mike Wallace but the Patriots will be shadowing Wallace with cornerback Darrelle Revis all game.

Andre Ellington, RB, ARI – Is he hurt? Is he okay? Will he have surgery? There is too much gray area here. What we do know is that Ellington injured his foot and the initial reports were that he would miss significant time. Now, he is a game time decision. Chalk this up to the Cardinals trying to confuse the Chargers before their Monday night game. Coach Bruce Arians says he is a game time decision. I say stay away from Ellington and pick up back-up RB Jonathan Dwyer just in case.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, NE – I’m not sold on Gronk being completely healthy and ready to go full tilt. I’m not even sure Bill Belicheck will let him play the entire game. Instead, I think they’ll take a more cautious approach with Gronk and only send him out there for passing plays so to avoid any kind of blocking.

START

Cam Newton, QB, CAR – Newton is a competitor and quarterbacks have played with injured ribs before. Cam will start and finish the game. He may be more hesitant to run and scramble which will hamper some fantasy statistics. Newton is a solid play today.

UPDATE: According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Panthers are planning on starting QB Derek Anderson for the 4 pm game. As it stands, stay away from Cam Newton for Week 1.

Zac Stacy, RB, STL – The rumors have been that Stacy might be the number two back. I do not believe that to be true based on last year’s production. With Sam Bradford sidelined last year, Stacy averaged over 20 carries per game. We can expect Stacy to have between 15-20 carries with other running backs receiving a bigger role in the offense.
