The Sixers acquired Keith Bogans in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers two weeks ago. In that trade, the Sixers also received a 2018 second round pick.
In the case of Varnado, the Sixers signed him last season to a 10-day contract and kept him on the roster. In 23 games last season, Varnado averaged 4.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 14.7 minutes per game.
With those two roster spots now opened, the Sixers officially added forward Drew Gordon and shooting guard Malcolm Lee. Gordon was with the Sixers during the Las Vegas Summer League and averaged six rebounds per game which led the team. Lee will be a solid addition to the Sixers’ backcourt as they are trying to find consistency at the shooting guard position.
Lee will be seeing some playing time at the shooting guard spot as the Sixers might be using Tony Wroten and Alexey Shved at the point guard spot, while Michael Carter-Williams rehabs back from shoulder surgery that he had in the offseason.
