In the wake of a hazing scandal at Sayreville War Memorial High School,  James Franklin and his staff have decided to pull an offer from safety/cornerback Myles Hartsfield.

Hartsfield is ranked as the 82nd best safety in the country and the 28th best player in New Jersey. He committed to the Nittany Lions on June 8, while attending a camp at Penn State.

Hartsfield is the focal point around the hazing scandal at Sayreville War Memorial High School, in which he is their top player as well as captain. On Friday night, Sayreville police announced that six juveniles were arrested; due to them being under 18 their names have not been released.

While it’s unknown if the 17-year old was one of the six players arrested, police have been investigating him for the past week, including a visit to the cornerback’s home.

Sayreville, one of the top football programs in the state has decided to forfeit the remainder of their season.

Hartsfield remains with 10 offers which include schools such as Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Temple, and West Virginia. Rutgers, who was the first to offer Hartsfield, may have pulled their offer after he committed to Penn State according to NJ.com.
