Philadelphia Flyers top forward prospect Scott Laughton has been named the AHL’s Player of the Week for his outstanding performance last week.

The former Oshawa General scored four goals over the course of two games last week for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Laughton, made his case last Friday in the Phantoms first-regular season game at the PPL Center, when he scored two power-play goals in a game the Phantoms would go onto win 4-3 in overtime over the Adirondack Flames. His four goals in three games is good enough for second best in the AHL, only trailing Paul Thompson of the Albany Devils who has six in three games.

The following day, while playing the Flames in Adirondack, Laughton tallied two more goals as a one-man comeback, including a shorthanded. Laughton was drafted by the Flyers with the 20th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, last season he played 54 games for the Oshawa Generals where he put up 87 points with 40 goals and 47 assists.
