Michael Carter-Williams to return to practice on November 6

When the Philadelphia 76ers open up the 2014-15 regular season on October 29 against the Indiana Pacers, they will be without starting point guard and reigning Rookie of the Year award winner Michael Carter-Williams.

This week there have been rumblings that Carter-Williams could be back on November 13 but today we officially found out when he will be back. Sixers head coach Brett Brown told reporters today that he expects Carter-Williams to return to practice on November 6.

Brown also added that it should not take Carter-Williams a month to get back into game playing shape.

For the Sixers, this is great news to hear that MCW could be back sometime in the month of November. Without MCW thus far, Brett Brown had used Tony Wroten, Alexey Shved and Casper Ware as the team’s primary ball handlers. With Ware being traded yesterday to the Brooklyn Nets for Marquis Teague and a 2019 second round pick expect Teague to possibly be backing up Wroten at the point sometimes.

Last season as a rookie, Carter-Williams averaged 16.7 points and 6.2 assists per game. Expect those numbers to go up this season when he comes back as the Sixers now have a healthy Nerlens Noel to add to the offense.
