Before the season even begins for the Drexel Dragons on November 14 against Colorado, they were dealt a major blow on Friday. On Friday afternoon, the school announced that sophomore point guard Major Canady will miss the entire 2014-15 season with an ankle injury.

This is a huge blow for the Dragons as they were expecting Canady to be a big time contributor this season. As a freshman, Canady played in 30 games and averaged 2.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 16 minutes per game.

Canady is not the only Dragon on the shelf this season as forward Kazembe Abif tore his ACL this past spring. This almost seems like a recurring story for Dragons as last season, they lost then sophomore Damion Lee to an ACL tear.

Lee, who is now a junior is healthy and will have to take on the scoring load with the help of junior Tavon Allen. It’s possibly for Lee and Allen to do it because the backcourt of Frantz Massenat and Chris Fouch did it for many years. Also helping out the likes of Allen and Lee will be senior guard Freddie Wilson.

Wilson, who averaged 11 minutes per game last season, will see an up in his minutes as he will have to contribute more. He averaged 2.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 19 games last season.
