In last night’s game, Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles brought the excitement as he scored an eight yard rushing touchdown and then took a 65-yard punt return back for a touchdown.
Unlike, the short yardage touchdown run that he scored, Sproles was told earlier in the week by the Eagles’ coaches that he would get a punt return for a touchdown.
“During the week, the coaches were telling me I should get one this week,” Sproles said via Philly.com. “Because they leave the middle wide open. So we had a middle return called and it hit.”
Sproles’s punt return was a thing of beauty as once he found the seam, he hit it and gave the Eagles a 17-7 lead. Remember in the offseason, the Eagles traded a fifth round pick for Sproles and I’m pretty sure New Orleans wants him back now.
This season, Sproles has four touchdown runs and two punt returns for a touchdown. Finally, without the likes of Nick Foles for the foreseeable future, the Eagles will be leaning on the likes of LeSean McCoy, Chris Polk and Sproles to help out quarterback Mark Sanchez.
