This past week, the WWE we welcomed back a superstar that has been greatly missed.
As the Authority said their goodbyes on Monday Night Raw, Daniel Bryan walked down the ramp chanting his signature, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” with the audience cheering along. As Stephanie McMahon and Triple H tried to leave, he taunted them.
Fans were screaming in delight watching The Authority leave the WWE and Bryan was the perfect superstar to give them a proper farewell.
Last year, the feud between Triple H and Bryan began. That year at Summerslam, Bryan faced John Cena for his first WWE Championship win. Triple H was the guest referee at this match and made his presence known when he attacked Daniel Bryan after winning the title, allowing Randy Orton to cash in his Money in the Bank to walk away with the WWE Championship.
Triple H’s reasoning behind the attack was that Bryan was not who they wanted representing the company. He did not fit the type of wrestler that the company wanted as their WWE Champion.
Bryan became frustrated after all the sabotage attempts that were being made against him by The Authority and decided to challenge Triple H to a match at Wrestlemania XXX.
Triple H eventually agreed to a match with the stipulation that the winner of the match would inserted into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania. Bryan would go on to defeat Triple H and then defeat Orton and Batista to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
A few months after winning the championship, Bryan was stripped of the title on Raw because of his absence on the show due to a neck injury.
We have not seen much of Bryan at all on Raw or Smackdown since Wrestlemania. Fans have been waiting for him to recover and possibly get another surgery on his elbow. However, Bryan returning to Raw this past Monday gave everyone hope that he is now going to return full-time soon.
His first night in power, Bryan targeted Team Authority and gave each of them fair ultimatums for their matches. For starters, he gave Seth Rollins the same advantage that The Authority had been giving him; a three on two handicap match. Bryan then announced the twist that the WWE Universe will have the power in deciding who Seth Rollins with get to fight with; one of the options being Rollins’ security guards Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble.
Bryan then gave Kane the new job title of “Concessions Kane” instead of Director of Operations and the night ended with a food fight against Ryback, foreshadowing a new feud. He also announced the anticipated debut of the new trio, A New Day, for Friday Night Smackdown.
Bryan definitely shook things up for the WWE and changed the momentum of the whole show now that The Authority is gone. I’m just hoping that he gets a championship match when he is able to return.
