If this day could not get any weirder in Philadelphia, it just did for Eagles fans everywhere. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles have traded running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso. The trade will become official next week.
This is a shocking move to Eagles and football fans across the country, as McCoy has been the most productive back in team history. In his six-year career, he has had four 1,000 yard rushing seasons. In the 2011 season, McCoy had 1,309 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Then in 2013, he had 1,607 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
This past season for McCoy was not good compared to other seasons. He finished with 1,319 rushing yards and five touchdowns. McCoy was owed $9.7 million this upcoming season as the Eagles will once again save cap space.
In return, the Eagles get a young stud linebacker in 24-year-old Kiko Alonso. Alonso did not play this past season as he tore his ACL last summer. When he did play, he made a ton of plays on the field. In his rookie season, Alonso finished with 159 tackles, four interceptions and two sacks.
What makes this more like a Chip Kelly move is that Alonso is a former Oregon Duck. What in the world is Kelly doing? No one knows.
