The San Francisco 49ers have not had much to celebrate as of late. During this offseason, they have lost former head coach Jim Harbaugh to Michigan and recently All-Pro linebacker Patrick Willis and defensive tackle Justin Smith to retirement. Well, today is a good day as the team made a big splash via free agency. According to Adam Schefter as well as other media outlets, the Niners have agreed to a five-year deal with speedster wideout Torrey Smith.
Smith who has had his fair share of solid games with the Ravens will now be the feature wideout on the Niners. You have to think Colin Kaepernick is very excited about this move. One on one, Torrey Smith is exciting to watch running down field while the deep ball is in the air.
Smith had 11 receiving touchdowns last season as a Raven to go along with 49 receptions for 767 receiving yards. If he can electrify the offense in the Bay Area the same way he did in Baltimore then this will be a great signing.
